# Adding a host based adapter card to a scalar server

Hello.

I have already talked to support but they cannot assist.

We purchased a new scalar server, basically this machine - [SYS-421GE-TNRT | 4U | SuperServer | Products | Supermicro](https://www.supermicro.com/en/products/system/gpu/4u/sys-421ge-tnrt).

I want to add a Fiber Channel host adapter card to attach a direct attached storage to this server; however, Supermicro does not list any supported card on their site under the AOC (add-on cards) section. What are my options? Has anyone done this?

I am sure most PCI cards will work; however, the Lambda support engineer says adding an unsupported card can “brick” the system. Seems extreme!
