Session Persistence in Lambda Chat

I was using Lambda Chat while in incognito mode and when I opened a new incognito tab or window my previous chats persisted even without signing in. How does this work under the hood? Can someone link a resource or give a brief explanation so that I can dig further on how it works and can be implemented.

Just to inform you:

Lambda Chat has been sunsetted.

Service will continue through September 25th. On the 25th:

• Lambda Chat will go offline.
• Lambda Chat Pro subscriptions will be cancelled. Users will receive a refund for the current billing period.
• All user information related to Lambda Chat, including payment information, conversations, system prompts, and upvotes, will be deleted.

To export your conversations before the site goes offline:

1. Log into Lambda Chat and navigate to Settings > Account & Profile.
2. Under Export conversations, click Export all conversations.
