# Pytorch and conda on Lambda Workstation RTX 3090

Jul 22, 2022

Okay thank you so much for everything Mark. I’m definitely interesting in doing a video teleconference b/c you might be right it might take less time.
I did the above to make the default python python3 and it is working:
```
(venv) senecawolf@tensorbook:~/Desktop/test-project$ deactivate
senecawolf@…
```

I’m definitely down to do a google meet. I can pay you through paypal for your time.
```
senecawolf@tensorbook:~$ ls -l /usr/bin/python*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 7 Apr 15 2020 /usr/bin/python -> python2
Thanks so much!
I don’t know if this is too much to look at, but here is a bit of an interactive session I had just now trying some of the above commands. I find that in my newly fabricated conda environment I don’t have access to the GPU. Same thing in system Python3. Only in Python2 do I have ac…
July 2022 after installing [Miniconda as per this link](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Avx_FYdFBcc) I did:
```
$ conda create -n pytorch python=3.9
$ conda activate pytorch
$ conda install pytorch torchvision torchaudio cudatoolkit=11.1 -c pytorch -c nvidia
```
And it looks like it is working. Is there any sort of test script available that I could r…
I finally did `sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade && sudo apt-get autoremove` and so far things seem to be working fine.
I’m sure I’ve messed some things up & not sure how to fix them.
For example:
Thanks I was already looking at the Free Code Camp video before you suggested it… seems like a good suggestion… that other dude is like “uMMMbuntu” (how he pronounces it) LoLz… Thanks Daniel!
Which docs? Can you post a link?
Does anybody have suggestions on how / where to learn Ubuntu?
Jul 14, 2022
From browsing these forums it sounds like people have had severe issues after running autoremove! I have been avoiding doing that! Can somebody who knows for certain please chime in? & thank you for your help Cody!
Maybe I should post here after all… I don’t know.
After upgrading to Ubuntu 20.04 I am receiving a popup window that is telling me I have 225 packages that are obsolete and asks me whether I want to keep or remove them. A whole bunch are libnvidia-… & I didn’t specifically check yet but I get a num…
I finally did what was on:
but that didn’t fully work so I did what was said here as well:
And then doing `sudo do-release-upgrade` seems to have worked… now I’m on Ubuntu 20.04… hopefully I still have Lambda Stack (?) and everything works…
It always has the complaint about the sources list:
Some third party entries in your sources.list were disabled. You can re-enable them after the upgrade with the ‘software-properties’ tool or your package manager.
It always has complaints about the Brave browser (experimentally removed Chrome to see if I could use a similar process to remove Brave… I could easily remove & reinstall Chrome but have not had success removing Brave).
And, it always says,
A problem occurred during the update. This is usually so…
[Python: Accessing installed Lambda stack modules](https://deeptalk.lambda.ai/t/python-accessing-installed-lambda-stack-modules/674/3) Feb 26, 2019
How can I get Anaconda setup to work with Lambda Stack? I already have Lambda Stack (its new to me). I want to get back to my ordinary workflow of working from inside conda environments. Thanks!
